Children Planted Turnips – Yum!

April 12, 2013 By Lil' Bebe Academy Leave a Comment

Don’t you just love when children garden or show appreciation for nature?  This is the fifth week of the turnip growth.  Our weather here in Illinois is still iffy: snow one day, warmth and then sleet another… so we will keep our gentle seeds indoors until all signs of winter are really gone.

We love to recycle everything, boxes, baby food jars, toilet paper rolls you name it we reuse it for some project.  Today the children all participated in planting seeds using recycled baby food jars.

Turnip seeds were purchased from Aldi for less than $1

This is the 2nd-3rd-week growth

The window sill provides enough sunlight for their growth. In the picture, you see some Morning Glory that I planted myself that week.

Fifth week and they are looking good.

Science in the making and a great hands-on learning experience for the little ones.
