I am happy I don’t have to spend another day yearning for long summer days or the desire to hear the sweet melodies from birds far and near. I can now hear the frogs croak, dig for worms, go fishing, and watch the children chase squirrels, geese, and birds.
Our summer fun takes us to many local places. Children get acquainted with what’s in their area, learn some history, enjoy the outdoors and just break the boredom of lessons. Summer was designed for Midwesterners like us. …no snow …just sun sun sun and loads of outdoor fun. Our weekly field trips take us touring our great County and today we head to Blackberry Farm.
Blackberry Farm tells the story of pioneer life and their experiences. The Love Bugs got to see what life was like in the past, how dutiful it was, how people traveled and some of the architectures of that time.
Here is what the old school looked like. Strong sturdy desks. The cone on the red chair was placed on the heads of children that were misbehaving – that was their punishment at the time.
How did they get around? ….Horse and Buggy
Some of the fun children have while learning about the pioneers. My son getting mounted on a Pony
This place has a Paddle Boat area that is loads of fun if the boat does not capsize or you miss your step while boarding. Unfortunately, we witnessed a young lady that …let’s say was not happy after she fell in the water.
I so love this Boat near the lake. Love the name African Queen – reminds me of back home.
Give me some Heat I think
Vintage Spinning Wheel.
They ended the day with a ride on the carousel.
This place was a hit for the children and is now among our summer adventures. There are many other things to do and learn at Blackberry Farm – Education is not just in the classroom, they had history lessons while on this trip.
