Our summer has been filled with many outdoor activities and adventures. We love to have fun in many forms. Being from the Caribbean and all, I love to try new food and experience a new culture. Which is added bonus to our little daycare ‘with a big heart ‘and the children within. This summer, I introduced the children to Mexican cactus pear. I gravitated towards this fruit because of its color. It reminds me of beetroot one of my favorite vegetables. I am anemic and do not eat any form of red meat, so some vegetable like beet provides me with some of the iron I need.Prickly pear has lots of seed. I eat the seed and all, it’s very refreshing like kiwi..except it is not bitter. Having so many pears in the fruit bowl. My children asked if, they could smash some and drink the juice like, Coyote Peterson who drank some prickly pear juice and then pretended to be a Zombie. See the video I figured why not have them paint with the juice after acting like zombies?
They were both happy to load the pears in a sock, smash with rock and drink the juice. After acting like zombies and goofing around it was time to paint.
She painted a happy face …I believe this matched the mood they were both in. This activity stemmed from my curiosity to try a new fruit and my children love for Coyote Peterson shows. Hope you will have fun doing this or something similar with your kids.
As always thanks so much for stopping by…Mis Sue
