Operating a mixed age learning center is an advantage for toddlers as, they actively attempt to emulate the preschoolers and school-aged children, I often refer to them as ‘no child left behind.’ These toddlers already count to twenty but now, they are learning to identify and differentiate numbers from letters. For this activity, I used a fern, stamp pad, and poster paper.
Stamp fern on paper, cover the fern with another paper and rub. Rub gently to have the ink transfer onto the paper beneath. Carefully lift the top paper off, then fern from the bottom paper, revealing a beautiful print.
Keep printing as many ferns as you desire.
After making the prints, I decided to make a poster for the toddlers to learn their numbers.
Printing from number one to nine. The stamps are the same ones used here and here from oriental trading. The toddlers have been loving these number ferns using it in our circle time activities and beyond.
I love to add homemade toys to our active learning- Miss Sue
