A cheap fun recycled way to help the mixed age children in your daycare with their name and letter recognition is, to have their names written on cardboard and mounted to a wall. We are always using cardboard for many of our projects, and this is one of them.
STEP 1 – Cut pieces of cardboard, Amazon is the queen of the jungle so, maybe you will be getting a package from them soon which can be used for this recycling project.
STEP 2- Write names on the cardboard. Names can be written in pencil, have enough space between each letter for step 3.
STEP 3 – Paint over the names with black acrylic paint. Tempura should be ok to use. If you are without black paint…be sure to use any other color in your cabinet.
STEP 4 – Let dry for a day before using.
STEP 5 – Mount to a wall with the use of an adhesive like velcro or mounting tape. The adhesive may be your only cost – the other supplies you may jolly have floating around. Mount the names to a wall, and the children will show their appreciation for your work.
And there you have it a very simple, cheap and beautiful way to help children in your daycare with name and letter recognition. It’s awesome when toddlers and preschoolers in your care can recognize their own names – Miss Sue 🙂
