Daycare Decor ~ Embroidery Hoops & Ribbons

May 9, 2019 By Lil' Bebe Academy Leave a Comment

Embroidery hoops aren’t just for knitting – there are so many other decorative options for them.  In our daycare, we use them for learning, activities and classroom decor.

For this activity, you will need a large hoop and some ribbons.  A charity shop/thrift store or any second-hand store is a great place to get your ribbons.  We get our ribbons from Goodwill and Joann Fabrics (when they are on sale).

Make it:

Cut ribbons to length.  Some can be shorter or longer to the look you want.

Staple ribbons around the hoop – use a small stapler, it gets in the groove better.

After all the ribbons are attached make a loop to hang the fixture.  I made loops by attaching a ribbon at three corners, joining them together like a triangle, then knotting them.

Hang in your ceiling and that’s it.  Easy peasy… 🙂

Here it hangs while another hoop project is showing on the wall.

My frugal shopping has shown me that these hoops are normally cheaper at a second-hand store than a retail store.  Have fun making these beauties.  If you operate a daycare as I do – stock up on these when you see them, they make beautiful crafts – Miss Sue.
