Want to have children quiet it down for a bit? If yes, allow them to color, yes lots of coloring. The children in my daycare concentrate when they make colorful art. I love to offer them a puzzle, coloring activity, or a book to read prior to napping, yes after lunch it’s time to settle down and not run around.
This activity was done by all the children including the 1 year old. For the mobile infants , I sometimes tape the page to the table this prevents the paper from moving around. I use painters tape it easily comes off and doesn’t tear the color page.
This coloring book from Melissa and Doug needs only water. For the younger children I offer them the water brush. I get the water brushes from amazon, I fill it with water and the little ones use them for their water coloring art. Please refrain from telling them to color in the lines at this time. Consistent coloring will allow them to eventually color in the lines – it’s a stackable skill.
May you be blessed with some quiet time. I know as daycare providers at times we need some real silence.
xoxo – Miss Sue
