Do you have tree pods growing in your area?
If you do then, here is a process art activity for your children. Invite children to go on a nature walk. Nature walk around the block, over the fence, under the bridge, over the mountain and on the trail – you get the gist.
Allow them to gather the pods that are free of bugs, or …
Take back to your home / daycare/ early years school and allow them to paint. The children in my school used acrylic paint and guess what – no we didn’t use smocks ( sometimes the activity happens in the moment without prepping). However, it’s good to use a tray / cardboard / newspaper, you know just something under the pods.
Allow pods to dry for a day or two and that’s it. Another process art which is so much more creative and unique than product art.
Have fun foraging your neighborhood for pods. FYI – if you venture on a prairie path or forest preserves please note you may not be allowed to collect nature bits.
