Painting Leaves A Simple Autumn : Process Art Activity

October 27, 2022 By Lil' Bebe Academy Leave a Comment

Looking for a simple Fall / Autumn process art activity for the children in your early years environment? This activity involves leaves that are losing chlorophyll – these are abundant in autumn. For this activity, we used hosta plant leaves.

What will you need?

  • paint
  • leaves
  • paintbrush/natures brush
  • children

Process art allows children to create without rules and expectations, and it’s NOT result-oriented. There is no right or wrong way to produce this kind of art.  On the other hand, if paper cut-outs were offered to the children – there would be clear-cut expectations (those create NO real artistry).  Children can lose their creativity, and their work is usually not unique, much like a copy machine print.

I hope your Autumn season will find you and the children outdoors, making adventures, playing, and learning.  Happy painting and remember your backyard, and play yard is your outdoor classroom.
