Hello my fellow home educators, today I stumbled on remnants of the children’s play at the light table. I have learned this is called play residue (one of my valued followers uses that word) 🙂
The children have been actively playing at the light table. Last week, I added some magnetic chips, film, a large magnet, and flowers. Today, I discovered the children added metal buckets, and they transported the magnetic people from the side wall.
Our light table has an unbreakable ECR mirror hanging on the wall. I removed the base of the mirror and added it horizontally during our makeover some years ago.
Our light table was a gift from my parents (my clients) some years ago. One year, I mentioned to them that we would love a light table. Like a great way to beg yeah (wish list) and all the parents contributed to the cause. I strongly encourage you to let your parents be your biggest support – however, they won’t know what you want unless you communicate with them.
I love to add (vintage) film pieces to the light table. These are old pictures of my family life in Jamaica. I am very sentimental and love adding my culture and personality throughout my home daycare. Our environment should have personality and charm even with the little things we add.
These magnetic people, I bought these from Amazon some years ago. The metal containers are your regular tuna or bean tins that are opened without sharp edges, washed, and recycled.
Today, I just wanted to share with you the children’s play at the light table in my home daycare.
Until next time xoxo – Miss Sue
