Welcome to Lil Bebe Academy – a home daycare that started because of my children. It’s incredible how children inspire you. Mine helped me accept my calling, passion, gift, happiness, truth, and everything! And that is how Lil Bebe Academy got started.
Meet my kids.
My Everything!
I hail from the tropical island of Jamaica, aka ‘The land of wood and water.’ I am a product of Island Vibes, reggae music, outdoor adventures, and good food. I grew up in rural Jamaica, where the clouds hug the mountains, and the pleasant melody of birds permeates the air…Bob Marley knew those three little birds well.
My nature-loving soul is the result of my upbringing. I would often be outside playing games with my siblings, schoolmates, or neighbors until the wee hours of the night. Games like jump rope, gig, marble, cricket, jax, and dandy shandy..aka dodge ball, were our thing. Back then, life was not about gadgets or television. Television was a choice of only two channels, not hundreds, and it would sign off, which meant no more broadcasting on either channel. Yep…believe that, all right.
Those days, I did not have readymade toys; my siblings and I had to be creative. We built our toys from plastic bags, wood, cardboard boxes, old tires, leaves, dirt, bushes, tree stubs, and you name it ….we would make something with it. Creativity flowed through me.
Fast forward many years, and I give that creative gift to my children and those I care for. I pass the torch on so these children can love the adventures and freedom of the outdoors – we explore, discover, and make special memories as I did as a child.
My creative passion and love of teaching inspire this blog – I love many things; one day, I am into this, and tomorrow I am into that. Some of my hobbies are the love of many genres of music, documentaries, and books. I also love to meet people and share their cultural foods. My all-time favorite thing to do is traveling, and one day, I wish to be a globe trotter with my family in tow. One of my passions is finding old things and making them new again – diamonds in the rough – I have an eye for beauty even when it’s ugly.
Welcome to Lil Bebe Academy; here, you will find creative indoor and outdoor learning. We spend many hours, days, weeks, months, and years outdoors learning with the seasons.
I wish every parent or caregiver to give their child the gift of outdoor adventures. Welcome their imaginary friends, believe in their dreams, and spend quality time with them – allow them to have fun while creating.
